 Hunter Shiraz is one of Australia's oldest wine styles and its popularity has varied over the years. To see where this historic style has been and where it's headed, the selector tasting panel shone the spotlight on a selection of old and new vintages.

Bruce Tyrrell, fourth generation Hunter winemaker, was recognised with an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to the Australian wine industry and in 2009 he became a Hunter Valley Living Legend.

Jeni Port is a Melbourne-based wine writer, judge and author but Hunter winemakers shouldn't hold that against her. She's keenly observed the Hunter for more than 30 years and watching it enter an exciting new wine phase gives her great pleasure.
